Zinnias are tropical at heart. Don't sow until soil is consistently above 18°C — late May for most growers. Sow direct: 1 seed per 5 cm, then thin to 25 cm apart.

If sowing indoors, use individual pots (zinnias hate root disturbance) and harden off carefully.
