Protect pots from frost
Move tender plants close to the house wall or into an unheated greenhouse, and wrap terracotta pots in fleece or bubble wrap. Raise pots on feet so they don't sit in cold, waterlogged saucers.
Clear fallen leaves
Rake leaves from lawns, paths and containers and stack them in a mesh bin to make leaf mould over two years. Remove them from crowns of alpine and low-growing plants to prevent rot.

Ragged holes in leaves and silvery trails, especially on lettuce, young bulb shoots and winter salads.
