The wiggle test and picking

A common rookie mistake: cutting too early. Hold the stem and gently wiggle it. If the flower nods on a soft neck, leave it. If the stem is rigid and the flower sits up firm, it's ready.

Cut deep — back to a node where two new shoots are emerging. Vase life: 7–10 days, longest of any annual.
