The masterclass closes with the simplest possible weekly routine. Build this into your gardening and you'll catch 95% of problems before they need spraying.
The Sunday-morning 10-minute audit
- Look under three random leaves per plant — eggs? aphids?
- Tip pots, check the underside — slugs, woodlice nests, vine weevil grubs in compost?
- Smell the soil — sour smell means waterlogged; let it dry, repot if needed.
- Pinch off any yellowing or spotted leaves and bin them.
- Refill the bird bath and the wildflower patch saucer.
